CAMPER PAVILION

The Camper-pavilion for the Volvo Ocean Race is designed by Shigeru Ban Architects Europe. The main structure is dominated by 48 cardboard columns of different sizes that support the roof. The roof itself is made of a PVC / Polyester membrane tensioned between the outer wooden compression ring, which has a diameter of 16.5m. The centre of the roof is pushed upwards by a floating pole. The pavilion has travelled with the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012 and was constructed in Spain, China, the United Stated and France.

Tentech has translated the initial sketch to construction documents. The pavilion is demountable and transportable in containers.
